Aurelio Tolentino y Valenzuela was born on October 15, 1869 and died on July 5, 1915. He was a Filipino playwright, poet, journalist, and revolutionary. At the turn of the twentieth century, his works showed his desire to see the Philippines free of its occupiers. He was apprehended twice, once by Spaniards and secondly by American troops. After creating and directing the anti-imperialist play Kahapon, Ngayon at Bukas in 1903, he was jailed (Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow).
